AltaLink recently announced that their preferred route for a new 138kV transmission line is from Anthony Henday East to their South Cooking Lake substation along Highway 14. There will be a meeting at the South Cooking Lake Hall on Thursday, August 21st (time to be announced) to discuss this option so please attend if you can or send your messages to cromb@mcsnet.ca and we will pass on your comments to those at the meeting.
Some residents are wondering why AltaLink selected this route over a southern route through Leduc County, and worry about the negative impacts on our area. Concerns have been raised about how the lines could affect our health, safety, environment, agriculture, property values, etc.
