Community Soccer

A little bit about our soccer for kids program at South Cooking Lake …

Our soccer program has been operating for 7 years at South Cooking Lake. We are a smaller community option for kids interested in playing recreational soccer. Here’s how it works:

We usually have about 12-16 kids in each age group and two volunteer coaches. The kids play for 1 hour once a week in the large field down by the picnic area at South Cooking Lake and there are no tournaments. For the first part of the hour, we focus on skills training and the second part of the hour is a game. Our teams are made from dividing up the kids we have in each age group. We do not play against teams from other communities. We have had parent vs. kid games at the end of the season, which is always a lot of fun.

If you are looking for a more formal and competitive option for your child, we suggest signing up for soccer in the larger surrounding communities. Our program is much more relaxed and the focus is on being active, working as a team, learning good sportsmanship skills, but most of all, the focus is on having fun. We have some fantastic parents coaching each year and we are excited for another great season! We hope to start in early May and play until the end of June. Our start time depends on the weather and in previous years, it has usually been the first week of May.

The cost for our program is $70/child for community league members and $75/child for non members. Our program is for kids ages 3 to 12.

We are looking forward to our next season in 2024!
