2023 is the 100th Anniversary of the SCL Community League!

The 100th anniversary of the South Cooking Lake Community League is in 2023 and plans are underway for some exciting projects in our community! A public engagement plan is currently being developed and we will post info as soon as we have it so we can continue to gather feedback. Please help us spread the word. The more help we have, the more we can do. Thanks everyone 😊

Crime in our Community

Multiple cars and garages near the community hall were broken into on Friday, April 2between 2 and 3 am. Cameras show a small grey or blue car and a white truck in the area around that time. Please check your vehicles, garages and cameras. A woman in a black hoodie and sweatpants was driving the car. The police have been notified. If you see anything else suspicious, please contact them again and please let others in the community know this is happening so they can keep an eye out.

We’re in This Together

Do you know someone in our community who may need help during these challenging times? Maybe it’s someone who needs help with picking up groceries or someone who is lonely and could use a friendly message from people in our community? We have many community members who would be very happy to help spread some positivity during these difficult times. We also have help in our community for families in need of canned or dry foods. Please contact Heather at cromb@mcsnet.ca us if you know anyone having a difficult time because we want to help.

Thank you for supporting youth group fundraisers and small businesses in our community :)

Girl Guide cookies are now available at Roundabouts Store at South Cooking Lake. The cost is $5/box. The girls are not able to sell door to door so if you’d like to help support their activities, you can buy them in the store. Chocolate and vanilla icing ones available and there were some chocolate mint too the last time we heard. Roundabouts also has a variety of items available from local businesses, including artwork, mugs, coffee, hand sanitizer, handmade soap, Mother’s Day gifts, cookie decorating kits, etc.

Christmas in the Country Coming Up Saturday, Dec 7

We’re excited for all of the fun activities going on – everything from the Christmas market with almost 30 vendors, the Kids Christmas Store where kids can shop for their loved ones, a visit from Santa, a sleigh ride and then head up to the SCL Firehall/South Contact Office for more fun, refreshments and fireworks from 4 to 6 p.m.
